Most marketers use AI the same way: open a chat, paste some context, get a draft, fix the draft, close the tab. Tomorrow, start from zero again. The output is fine. It is never quite the brand. And the hours you spend re-explaining your voice every session are hours you are paying for twice.
Claude Code removes the start-from-zero part. It works inside a folder of your actual brand files, remembers your standards every session, and writes into real documents and spreadsheets instead of a chat bubble. It was built for developers. It has quietly become the most useful tool in e-commerce marketing, because it turns the one thing you cannot delegate, your taste, into the only thing you have to do.
I have spent 17 years building brands, with projects led in previous agency collaborations for Amazon, Pier 1, Dressbarn, and MAC Cosmetics, and I built a seven-figure branding and marketing business along the way. The standard has not changed: the tools draft, your taste decides. This kit gives you the system I wish every marketing team started with. It is free, and it stays free.
What is Claude Code, actually?
Claude Code is Claude with hands. Instead of chatting in a browser tab, it opens a folder on your computer and works with what is inside: reading your brand guidelines, writing product copy into a spreadsheet, drafting ten emails as ten files. You approve every change before it touches anything.
The chat window
- Forgets your brand between conversations
- You paste context in, copy results out
- One deliverable at a time
Claude Code
- Reads standing instructions automatically, every session
- Works directly in your files and spreadsheets
- A whole catalog or flow set in one run
What you need: a Claude Pro or Max subscription (Claude Code is included, with no separate license) and the Claude desktop app for Mac or Windows. No terminal or coding knowledge required. These details are verified against Anthropic's documentation as of July 2026.
A note on safety: Claude Code proposes changes and waits for your approval before applying them. Work on exported copies of your data, a CSV export rather than your live store, and review before anything gets published. Nothing in this kit connects to your Shopify admin.
How do I set it up without touching a terminal?
Once, and then it is done forever. The whole thing takes about 20 minutes.
- Download the Claude desktop app at claude.com. Mac and Windows both work.
- Sign in with your regular Claude account. If you are on Pro or Max, Claude Code is already included in your plan.
- Open the Code tab at the top of the app. Chat is the familiar window. Code is where the real work happens.
- Create your Brand HQ folder on your computer, using the structure below. Fill it with your brand guidelines, three product pages you love, and your three best-performing emails.
- Select the folder. In the Code tab, choose Local, click Select folder, and pick Brand HQ. Claude can now see everything inside it, and nothing outside it.
- Run your first prompt. Ask Claude to read everything and describe your brand voice in ten rules (Prompt 01 below). Save the answer. That document becomes the brief for everything it writes next.
The unlock is step six. Most people skip it and keep chatting with a blank AI. You are building an AI that has studied your brand before it writes a word.
What goes in the Brand HQ folder?
This one folder is your entire system. Everything Claude writes for you starts from what lives here, so the folder is worth 15 minutes of care.
brand/: guidelines and the 10 voice rules from Prompt 01.
examples/: your best product page, best email, about page.
products/: your catalog export (Shopify: Products → Export).
email/: the flow map that Prompt 11 builds.
research/: reviews and competitor pages saved as text.
Three rules for the folder. Examples beat descriptions: three pieces of copy you are proud of teach Claude more about your voice than five pages of adjectives. Keep exports, not live data: the products file is a copy, and you review everything before it goes near your store. The folder grows with you: every good deliverable can be saved back in as a new example, which makes the next one better.
How do I make the AI sound like my brand?
You write one file. CLAUDE.md is a plain text file Claude Code reads automatically at the start of every session. Standing instructions, permanent memory. Fill it in, or have Claude draft it with Prompt 02, and every workflow in this kit inherits it.
The file has six parts: your voice in 10 rules, your customer in 3 lines, your banned words and phrases, your formatting rules, the examples to match, and your working rules. The working rules are what keep it honest: always draft in my voice per this file; when I correct you, propose adding the correction here as a new rule; never publish or overwrite originals, write drafts to new files.
The compounding trick: when a draft misses, do not fix the copy. Fix the file. Add the rule it broke, and every future draft inherits the correction.
Most tools depreciate. A brand-voice file appreciates, because every correction you make once is a correction you never make again.
The 20 prompts
Copy, paste, review. Run the foundation prompts once, in order, after setup. Then run the rest as the work comes up.
Section A · Foundation
These build the voice system everything else relies on. Run them once, in order.
Section B · Product pages at scale
Export, draft, review the first 10, fix the pattern, run everything. This is the work a freelance copywriter quotes by the page.
Section C · Email and SMS flows
Ten emails almost nobody finishes by hand, drafted in one working session.
Section D · Research and upkeep
Where the copy angles come from, and how the system stays sharp.
What does the first week look like?
One focused hour a day. By Sunday you have a working system, not a pile of drafts.
- Day 1 · Setup. Install the desktop app, build the Brand HQ folder, run Prompt 01. Read what Claude says about your brand. It is usually clarifying.
- Day 2 · The brand file. Prompt 02, then fill every TODO yourself. The highest-leverage 40 minutes in this kit.
- Day 3 · Test and tighten. Prompts 03 and 04. Cold test, banned words, corrections into the file.
- Day 4 · Products, batch one. Export your catalog, run Prompt 05, review the first 10 rows slowly. Correct patterns, not sentences.
- Day 5 · Products, full run. Run the rest, spot-check 10 random rows, import. Add SEO (Prompt 08) if time allows.
- Day 6 · Email flows. Prompts 11 and 12. Ten emails drafted, reviewed one flow at a time.
- Day 7 · SMS and schedule. Prompt 13, paste into your ESP, A/B the subject lines Claude already gave you. Book the monthly audit in your calendar.
After day seven the system compounds. Every correction you add to CLAUDE.md makes next month's work better. Most tools depreciate. This one appreciates.
What is Claude Code and how is it different from the chat window?
Claude Code is Claude working inside a folder on your computer instead of a chat tab. It reads your brand files automatically every session, writes drafts straight into documents and spreadsheets, and can handle a whole catalog or flow set in one run, while still proposing every change for your approval before it is saved.
Do I need to know how to code?
No. There is no terminal and no code. You need a Claude Pro or Max subscription, which includes Claude Code, and the Claude desktop app for Mac or Windows. The setup takes about 20 minutes and is done once.
Is it safe to use on my store's data?
Yes, when you work on exported copies. Claude proposes changes and waits for your approval, you work on a CSV export rather than your live store, and nothing in this kit connects to your Shopify admin. You review every draft before it is published.
